“Socialize Your Small Business” Will Transform How You View Social Media

by Tinu Abayomi-Paul on May 18, 2011

I’m going to tell you why you should invest this Thursday morning (yup, tomorrow), in your content.

Take a moment and think about how much work you put into social media.

From your blog, to interacting with people on Facebook, and Twitter, to when you spend hours creating or perfecting a YouTube video – that maybe only 20 people will ever watch.

Yes, social media is the popular new “in” thing. But is it worth it? Is it right for your business?

If you stopped today, would anyone notice? What happens when you go on vacation?

If you feel like your efforts aren’t bringing the results that seem vaguely promised to you by the hype, there’s one of two issues at play.

Either you need help forming your various tactics into a larger strategy, or you’re wasting your time in social media in the first place.

Anytime I try something and it doesn’t work out, I wonder – did it fail, or did I?

The Socialize Your Small Business series from Women Grow Business is a series of intimate, free workshops designed to help you figure out whether you can get more impact out of your activities in social media, with the same amount of work – or even less. It’s this community’s way of giving back to you.

In this week’s installment (tomorrow, 8:30 – 10 a.m. ET, in DC), I’ll be working individually with you on your business to help show you how to build a better content strategy. I’ll help you figure out what to create, how to know what your audience wants, and what you can do to get more people to help spread the word for you.

We’ll even go as deep as how to find the right target time of day to reach the most people for your market. I will make a very short presentation at the beginning, but most of the time we’ll actually spend working on brainstorming content strategy that is specific to your business.

Of course, you know that there are workshops you can pay to go to in order to work with someone in a group setting, and be able to ask a few questions at the end.

Well, the whole idea of this series is to “pay it forward.” As a community we want to support each other’s business efforts. This is our way of doing that. Come join us on Thursday morning, and bring a friend.
