The Hot Momma’s Project & Women Grow Business Team Up for Whip Novel Giveaway

by Tinu Abayomi-Paul on June 15, 2012

If you’re a fan of the Hot Momma’s Project, you know as well as I do that when Kathy Korman Frey recommends something, you pay attention!

She recently introduced me to a novel called The Whip, about Charlie Parkhurst, a stage coach driver for Wells Fargo before the Civil War.

Only Charlie was born Charlotte.

And she lived as a man for 30 years with the intention of avenging the death of the love of her life.

Who was a black man.

She died in 1879, which means she set out to accomplish this way before it was even legal for them to marry. And this fascinating story is completely true. You can ask the author, Karen Kondazian, who is coming to Washington DC for a book signing on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Barnes and Noble in Union Station at 5 pm. (If you’ve ever been to Union Station, you know how tiny that B & N is. Come early.)
