This February, there are Social Media Week events being held from the 18th to the 22nd in Washington D.C.
The Baltimore-Washington Metro area is a much smaller world than it seems, so much so that we in the local Women Grow Business community often find that our members and supporters are speaking or otherwise participating in local events.
In the interest of expanding that community to include more of you, we’re going to highlight some of the sessions that will be of interest to Women Grow Business readers or feature community members.
First in this series is a panel that was recently announced: “From React to Ignite: Building a Positive Hospitality Brand Online.”
What’s special about this event? Several of the speakers are names you probably know, including:
- Shashi Bellamkonda, Senior Director of Social Media at Network Solutions/Web.com (moderating the panel)
- Lisa Byrne, Social Strategist at Pappa’s Group
- Tara Lewis, Regional Director of Marketing at Yelp
If you look at the events page, you’ll see that the entire panel combines a wealth of knowledge from specialists in several areas of hospitality.
And, certainly, the odds area that this may not be your industry, but as a business owner or key executive, you can still learn priceless lessons from these experts. (Not to mention that the panel has a good balance of women in it, which I’m always a fan of, naturally.)
It’s free but space is limited – so remember to sign up via Eventbrite to confirm your seat. We’ll remind you again when we do a round-up of the Social Media Week events that we feature here between now and then. In the mean time, mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 19, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Hamilton in DC.
There’s also a link on the page to add the event to your calendar. Keep an eye on the hashtag too, SMWHospitality.
Another great event announcement is coming up shortly. Stay tuned – and if you’ve got a Social Media Week event you’d like us to feature, tweet it out and cc us on the @wgbiz Twitter account! We’re primarily looking for events by or for Women in Business, but we’re open to whatever our audience shows an interest in.Google+
